  • Haiku is a type of Japanese poem with only 3 lines. It is the one of the shortest type of poems which makes it easy to remember.  
  • The theme of Haiku poems is mostly about nature and animals, but they can be about any topic. 

Format of Haiku

The 5-7-5 rule:


A Haiku has 5 syllables in the first line, 7 syllables in second line and again 5 syllables in the last line.

Syllable: There are 2 syllables in the word water (wat-er).

Haiku is the easiest form of poem. It is not important to have rhyme scheme in this type of poem.
