E-MAIL

E-Mail or electronic mail is the process of exchanging messages electronically using computers. E-Mails allow users to communicate with each other in less time and at nominal costs. Apart from textual data, images and audio and video files can also be sent through e-mails. There are numerous advantages of using e-mail facility provided by the Internet:
  • High speed: Messages can reach a computer on the other side of the world in minutes.
  • Low cost: It is an inexpensive mode of communication.
  • Reliability: It is a reliable mode of communication, that is, once the message is sent from a source computer, it will definitely be received by the other computer to who you're sending. If any error occurs, an appropriate message will be displayed.
  • Content: Any form of data like text, graphics, sound, or video can be sent through e-mails. 

E-mail address

Anybody who wants to send or receive e-mails must have an e-mail address (sometimes referred to as e-mail account or e-mail ID) on a mail server. A mail server is the computer where the user has the electronic mailbox. Since multiple users can access the Internet at the same time, the e-mail address must be unique for each Internet user.
An e-mail address is divided into two parts: the username or the user ID and the identity of the mail server. The two parts are separated by the symbol @.
The structure of an e-mail address is:
username@mailservername.com

A number of websites provide e-mail service. No fees are charged from the users until they are using advanced features. Some of the websites that provide e-mail service are:
