World Octopus Day
A lot of people say an octopus is like an alien. But the strange thing is, as you get closer to them, you realize that we're very similar in a lot of ways.

HAPPY WORLD OCTOPUS DAY!
There are many amazing facts about these creatures:
- Octopuses belong to the class of mollusks called cephalopods, which means “head-foot” in Greek. They have eight arms that are attached directly to their head, which contains a large brain and a beak-like mouth.
- Octopuses have three hearts: two that pump blood to the gills and one that circulates blood to the rest of the body. Their blood contains a copper-based pigment called hemocyanin, which helps them carry oxygen in cold and low-oxygen environments.
- Octopuses are highly intelligent and can learn from experience, solve problems, and even recognize individual humans. They can also use tools, such as rocks, shells, and coconut halves, to manipulate their environment or protect themselves from predators.
- Octopuses are masters of camouflage and can change their color, texture, and shape to blend in with their surroundings. They can also release a cloud of black ink to confuse or distract their attackers. Some octopuses can even mimic the appearance and behavior of other animals, such as fish, snakes, or crabs.
- Octopuses are very flexible and can squeeze through any opening that is larger than their beak and eyes. They can also detach and regrow their arms if they are injured or threatened. Some octopuses can even walk on land for short periods of time.
