What is Success?
Namaste, my dear readers.
According to you, what is success?
The definition varies from people to people, age to age, value to value.
According to Google, success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. This is quite right. Your definition of success depends on your aim. One person might want to achieve mastery in their career. Another might want to become rich, build a healthy lifestyle or develop meaningful relationships with people around them.
Now, I'll give you two scenarios.
Which person do you think is successful: someone with a net worth of ₹2 crores or someone with ₹10 crores?
Which person do you think is successful: someone with a net worth of ₹2 crores or someone with ₹10 crores?
Logically, most would say the second person. After all, they have more wealth. And yes, if net worth is the only measure, they might be correct.
But what if I told you that the person with ₹2 crores is actually the successful one?
You might argue, “But the other person has more money!”
Here's the key: success isn't about how much you have. It's about how happy and fulfilled you feel with what you have.
Let's say the ₹2 crore individual is satisfied with their lifestyle, career, and possessions. Their needs and desires align perfectly with what they have. Meanwhile, the ₹10 crore individual wants five cars but only has two, leaving them feeling unfulfilled.
In this case, the man with two crores is considered successful, since he has accomplished what he wanted, and is happy.
Now that doesn't mean I'm telling you all to keep your aim low. I mean to say that whatever your aim is, make sure that it keeps you happy. A simple life filled with peace is just as valuable as a high-achieving life, as long as it feels meaningful to you.
My advice:
- Have big goals and work to unlock your potential.
- Celebrate your successes and learn from your mistakes.
- Don't tie your happiness solely to the goal; find joy in the process, even through challenges.
- Success doesn't mean constant happiness—it's about discovering moments of peace and purpose, no matter where you are in life.
Success is whatever makes you feel fulfilled, meaningful and purposeful. There is no "wrong" choice - everyone has their own goals. Just do not wait that, "Once I achieve my goal, I'll be happy." Be happy through the process. It will actually help you work better for your goal, since you feel more energetic and optimistic. Recognize that not everyone has the same starting point, and sometimes external factors make happiness harder to achieve—but even small steps toward contentment matter.
You've got this! 💪😊

ReplyDeleteVery well written kushala. 😊
ReplyDeleteWhen we set out to achieve something of some monitory value or some wish or dream of our’s, it is important that we do not forget to hold on to the more valuable things we have.. like family, friends, health, enjoying the small things like enjoying the rain etc .. or overall we tend to loose out and can not enjoy our success.
Happy to see such wisdom at such a young age like yours.. 😊
Keep going!
