A Tribute To Mother Nature
Happy International Day of Forests! 🌳🌴🌲
Reasons to protect forests:
- Trees purify the air of excess carbon dioxide by utilizing it for photosynthesis, and release oxygen, which is a vital gas that supports many life forms on Earth, including humans. Trees provide many benefits to us, like fruits, medicines, shade.
- Tree roots hold the ground together and prevent soil erosion. If the soil gets eroded, there won't be any fertile soil left for agriculture, which is a need for humans as they must produce food to live.
- Trees also help in climate regulation due to their many physiological processes like photosynthesis and transpiration.
But really, why do we need to be so selfish as to find reasons to save trees? Just like how we value our own lives, similarly other organisms, plants, animals and birds have the right to live. It may be hard for people to start trying to save trees without having reasons, if they do not have the time or the will to do so. This is the reason why I have mentioned reasons here, and this is mostly the reason why everyone stresses on the needs of saving a particular aspect of nature. But once we start trying to save not just trees, but animals, birds, and even protecting fellow human beings without the need to get anything in return, that's when we feel real happiness and become better beings. So come on, friends, let us love and protect our forests unconditionally:
- Promote afforestation.
- Grow a little garden in your balcony or your surroundings. Even one plant makes a difference. How? Just imagine every person in this world plants one tree in their surrounding areas. 7 billion trees are a big deal. Reduce wastage of paper and wood.
- Use cloth napkins and steel cutlery instead of disposable paper or plastic items.
Do we NEED to have a use to protect Mother Nature, the source of our existence and to whom we shall return? Let us embrace nature and protect it, not for gain, but simply because it deserves our care.
