International Moon Day
Facts about the Moon:
- It is Earth's only natural satellite and is about 384,400 km away from us.
- It is roughly 1/4th the diameter of the earth.
- The moon always shows the same face to Earth because its rotation period equals its orbit period. The other side is called the "dark side". But its actually not dark. It gets sunlight too, we just don't see it from Earth. It's more accurate to call it the "far side".
- In 1969, Apollo 11 brought Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin to the moon—making history.
